A scenic, well-sheltered all-weather anchorage tucked behind a maze of rocky islets on the northeast shore of Bonwick Island in Broughton Archipelago Marine Provincial Park.
Waddington Bay sits at the north end of Retreat Passage on Bonwick Island and is one of the most popular anchorages in the Broughton Archipelago. It is prized for sticky-mud holding, calm water once inside, and protection that holds up in essentially any wind.
The bay is ringed by lush, forested hills and a scatter of small islets that make it a favorite spot for poking around by dinghy, bird watching, and dropping a crab trap. It is intimate rather than vast, comfortably holding roughly ten to twelve boats without feeling crowded.
There are no facilities here; this is a wilderness marine-park anchorage. The nearest provisions and fuel are at Echo Bay, a short run away.

The entrance is narrow and threads through many rocky islets that demand close attention to the chart and chartplotter. The common approach comes in from Retreat Passage, passing between the charted islets before turning southwest into the bay.
Rocks and shoaling near the head of the bay are the principal hazards; the bay shoals toward its south end, so favor the deeper north portion and verify swinging room. Kelp marks some of the rocks among the islets. Canadian charts 3546 and 3515 cover the area and should be used together with a current cruising guide.
